Carbon and Forge

Carbon is the site and the host only. Forge is for companies that need custom software in a code home that belongs to them. Extra seats are $45 each per month.

The stack

What we host

Every client gets a private company network. It is made of three parts: the computers we run (Hydrogen), the logins for your people (Iodine), and the door into the system (Helium). No other company shares that network with you.

The bill

How the monthly fee works

  • The monthly fee pays for the hosted system on that plan, the hours in the plan, Discord, and the features named on the plan.
  • Hours you do not use do not carry into the next month. The system stays up. The hours start over.
  • Work past the hours, or work that is not in the plan, is billed as extra hours or as a separate job. We tell you before we start.
  • Helium seats above the plan cost $45 per seat each month. That is a login on the portal, not a full IT fee per person.
  • Overnight coverage is included on Forge. On Carbon and Desk it is a named add-on. It is not the default.
  • You do not install LTFI. You do not run a security console. You do not take care of servers.

If the work goes past your monthly hours, or if it is not part of the plan, we give you a price first. Then we bill the extra hours at the plan rate, or we write a separate job with its own price.

Ownership

What you own

Yours

  • You own your name, logos, and brand files.
  • You own your writing, your data, and your domain names.
  • You own custom code that we put in your private code home, unless a file named LICENSE in that home says something else. If that file exists, it wins.
  • You own the export we give you when the work ends: your files, your content, and your custom code.

Not yours

  • You do not own LTFI, Helium, Iron, or any other part of the system table.
  • You do not own Kief Studio tools, playbooks, or internal code.
  • You do not get to take the private network, the key cabinet, or the portal home as software you run yourself.
  • Tools we host for you, such as Ghost or Payload, keep their own licenses. Those licenses do not become yours.

The license file wins

If a file named LICENSE sits in a code home we host for you, that file decides who owns the code in that home. If there is no license file, custom code we put in your private code home is yours. LTFI software and Kief Studio software are never yours.

While we work together, you may use the LTFI screens we run for your company. That permission is limited, is not exclusive, and cannot be handed to someone else. When the work ends, that permission ends. We then give you what is yours, and we shut down what is ours.

If you wait

We take that seam so you don’t have to.

If you do nothing, the host, the designer, and the writer keep missing each other. The site stays homework. You still own the night shift. Opening a line is a conversation, not a contract.
